Santorum Kicks Off Conservative Gathering In Denver

DENVER (AP) - Seven Republican presidential hopefuls are headed to Denver this weekend to woo conservative support.

Rick Santorum kicks off the Western Conservative Summit Friday. He'll speak to several hundred gathered to hear speeches from candidates and talk about the presidential race next year.

Also attending the conference are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Rounding out the slate are businesswoman Carly Fiorina, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former New York Gov. George Pataki and neurosurgeon Ben Carson. The candidates aren't debating; they'll make individual speeches making their case for the Oval Office.

Santorum is a long shot for the GOP nomination. But he has twice carried Colorado in Republican presidential caucuses, so his thoughts on next year's presidential race will be watched with interest.
