Safeway To Close 9 Grocery Stores In Denver Area

DENVER (AP) — Safeway officials have announced they are closing nine grocery stores in the Denver metro area.

Spokeswoman Kris Staaf said Saturday the stores will be closed by June 13.

Safeway officials say they have been evaluating operations at the stores extensively, considering ways to improve performance, for more than a year.

Staaf says the stores that are closing are not profitable.
