RTD Opens B Line From Westminster To Union Station

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver's Regional Transportation District unveiled a new commuter train line Monday morning.

The "B Line" runs between Westminster and Union Station in a non-stop, 11-minute trip.

This line is one of three that RTD will be opening to the public this year.

Dave Genova, RTD General Manager and CEO, rode the train with CBS4's Jamie Leary.

"We've been working on these projects for years. This is our third project we're opening this year, we'll be opening two more projects before the end of the year, so it's an incredible year for RTD, no other agency's done this many projects in one year," Genova said.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the Westminster platform, at West 69th Avenue and Grove Street, at 10 a.m. to celebrate the opening. Rides are free from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., and again on Saturday all RTD lines will be free in celebration of the B Line opening.
