Murder Suspect Allegedly Told Authorities He 'Snapped'
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - The man charged with killing a 23-year-old woman inside the home of her fiancee's parents near Steamboat Springs reportedly told police he "snapped."
Police say Cole Pollard, 22, strangled and raped Patricia Richmond on June 29. He is also suspected of stealing several items from the home. Richmond was found by authorities bound and face down inside the home and Pollard was arrested days later shortly after his SUV was spotted in Garfield County.
Pollard appeared in Routt County Court on Monday for a routine status hearing. He is charged with two counts of first degree murder, burglary and theft.
Those close to the suspect are apparently shocked by the allegations, saying the crimes are out of character for Pollard.
According to The Steamboat Pilot & Today newspaper, court documents indicate Pollard told deputies "he snapped."
Pollard is expected back in court on July 20.
