Rookie Paxton Lynch Looks Impressive, Throws TD Pass To John Phillips

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak kept his word and played rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch in the second half of the preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Lynch was able to make some heads turn with a touchdown pass to tight end John Phillips in the waning minutes of the third quarter to tie the game at 17-17.

But newly acquired 49ers quarterback Christian Ponder had a 22-yard run for a touchdown to give San Francisco a touchdown lead -- 24-17.

The 49ers then took control of the game with under 7 minutes left after Ponder hooked up with Dres Anderson on a 30-yard bomb for a touchdown.
