Rocky Mountain National Park Visits Break Record

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) - Visitation to Rocky Mountain National Park this year has topped the 3.2 million mark, the highest the park has ever received.

Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said Friday the year-to-date visitation was 3,263,804. In October alone, visitation was 305,651, thanks in large part to pleasant fall weather and the iconic Trail Ridge Road remaining open until nearly the end of the month. The figure is a significant increase compared to the previous five Octobers.

Patterson says fall visitation, particularly on weekends, continues to increase at the park.
