Search Crews Locate Overdue 60-Year-Old Hiker

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK- Park rangers and search crews were able to locate a 60-year-old hiker who had been reported overdue from Longs Peak on Saturday morning.

Family members told Rocky Mountain National Park officials that Steve Elliott, from Rockwell, Texas, was overdue from a hike on Longs Peak. Elliott began the hike early Frida with plans to summit Longs Peak on the Clark's Arrow/Loft Route and descend via the Keyhole Route.

Search crews found Elliott at the base of Clark's Arrow at approximately 1:15 p.m. Saturday. They assessed his condition and provided aid to warm him. Rescuers started ascending with Elliott to the Loft and will descend to the Chasm Shelter.

Park searchers had contacted numerous park visitors who are in the area in hopes they may have information about Elliott.
