Rockslide Could Keep Central City Parkway Closed Until Friday

CENTRAL CITY, Colo. (CBS4) – The Central City parkway will remain closed for several days because of a rockslide that covered the roadway. The road could reopen on Friday.

The rockslide happened Monday afternoon about a mile-and-a-half from the Interstate 70 junction.

The parkway is one route casino patrons use to reach Central City from I-70. Another route, Highway 6 through Black Hawk, is now the alternative.

Crews are working to clear the rocks. They're also bringing in barricades to put up along the parkway.

Debris, some of it bus-sized, slid across all four lanes. One lane reopened Tuesday night for emergency vehicles.

The road is private, so state funds won't be used to clear the road.
