Rockies Place RHP Brooks Brown On DL With Inflamed Shoulder

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies placed right-handed reliever Brooks Brown on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation.

This is the second time Brown has wound up on the DL this season because of the issue. Manager Walt Weiss says his pitcher's most recent shoulder trouble surfaced on the Rockies' road swing, when Brown struggled to get loose in the bullpen and his velocity was down.

Weiss says the plan with Brown is to "let this thing calm down."

Brown is 0-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 12 games.

To take his spot on the roster, the Rockies recalled righty Christian Bergman from Triple-A Albuquerque. Bergman will be used as a long reliever. He's 2-0 with a 6.89 ERA for Colorado this season.
