Rock-Throwing Vandals Cause $15,000 In Mead High School Damage
LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - Vandals caused $15,000 in damage at Mead High School in eastern Longmont this week.
The Weld County Sheriff's Department said four people damaged the school's baseball field on Tuesday and tried to destroy security cameras on Wednesday. The destruction at the field will cost $5,000 to repair. The damage to the cameras is estimated at $10,000, the sheriff's office said.
The Longmont Times-Call reported on Friday morning that the suspects threw rocks at the cameras to disable them and apparently erase footage.
The paper said the nets behind the backstop of two baseball fields and one softball field were cut down, and large holes were left where the field's bases were pulled up.
"We're not certain that they're students there, but that's my gut feeling," Sgt. Sean Standridge told the Times-Call.
