DENVER (CBS4) - Runners not quite ready for a full or half marathon at the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 this fall can participate in 10K or 5K races.

Race organizers announced this week the new routes will welcome runners of all abilities. The 10K (or 6.2-mile) route will start in the Highland neighborhood in northwest Denver, while the 5K will begin in Civic Center Park, where all the races will finish.

"We've redesigned the marathon and half marathon courses this year, and now with the addition of the 10K distance, we've made some changes that will really elevate the experience we're creating," Alan Culpepper, Olympian and event spokesman, said. "Our aim is always to make running accessible and fun. The welcoming atmosphere combined with a variety of distances means anyone can be a Rock 'N' Roll finisher."
