Road Crews Prepare For Snow, Cold

"The temperature fluctuations make our job harder. If we go from a warmer condition to a very cold condition and we have ice building up on the roads, that's more difficult to break. If we have temperatures that remain stable throughout the snow event it's a lot easier to plow the roads and keep them well maintained," said CDOT spokesman Mike O'Neill.

The temperature also helps determine which deicer to use on the roadways.

CDOT wants to remind drivers to give plows a lot of room on the roadways.
