Rio Blanco Sheriff Stabbed In Parking Lot

MEEKER, Colo. (AP) — Rio Blanco County Sheriff Si Woodruff is recovering from a stab wound he received while trying to arrest a suspect in a hospital parking lot.

The sheriff's office says Woodruff was stabbed Thursday outside Pioneers Hospital, where he was trying to arrest a white male suspect.

Authorities have not named the suspected stabber or why he was being sought, citing an ongoing investigation. The sheriff's office said the man is in custody. Calls seeking identification were not immediately returned.

Woodruff was transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, where he was in good condition Friday evening.
