Rescue Crews Search For Children In Sewer, Find Nothing
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Rescue crews say they didn't find any children after searching through a sewer system in Aurora late Thursday morning.
At 10 a.m. authorities got a call from a resident who saw a child playing in the sewer drains.
An extensive search by Aurora Fire Rescue's technical rescue team took place on 6888 South Irving Court, just south of Smoky Hill Road and east of E-470. South Metro Fire Rescue also helped out with the search.
"We did an exhaustive search of the storm drains and we found no kids in the sewer system," said Aurora Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Tony Krenc.
"The technical rescue teams went each direction down the holes and they searched from multiple manhole covers up and down the street."

The incident provided officials with the opportunity to remind everyone that descending into a sewer or playing around storm drains is a dangerous idea for anyone who isn't properly trained.
"Please be safe this summer. Kids and adults, don't go in the sewer," said Krenc. "They are not a safe place. Sometimes the oxygen levels can be low and people can pass out in the storm drains. That's why we go on air when we go down there."
