Republicans Provide 50 More Debate Tickets For CU

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The Republican National Committee is providing 50 more student and faculty tickets for Wednesday's Republican presidential candidate debate.

The Republicans previously provided 100 tickets for university use, but students and faculty members said that was not enough.

University officials say tickets will be distributed to faculty and students whose areas of study have a direct educational tie to the American election process, politics, media coverage and the economy, which are the topics of the debate.

Chancellor Phil DiStefano issued a newsletter saying the debate is not a public event and is instead a TV broadcast with a studio audience. He said having the debate at the Coors Events Center will increase CU-Boulder's recognition.
