Renaissance Hotel Opens In Historic Colorado National Bank Building

DENVER (CBS4)- It's a new use for an old space. The Renaissance Hotel opened in the historic Colorado National Bank Building in downtown Denver.

The bank located at 17th and Champa was designed in 1915. The building was lined with white marble colonnades and walls. That marble was cut from the same marble used to build the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The hotel's general manager said the transition was meant to be.

"Now rather than gold coming in and being stored downstairs now, we're taking care of all of our discoverers that are coming down to see what this property was and what it wants to be, so 230 rooms in the Colorado National Bank are now the Renaissance, a marriage made in Heaven," said Renaissance Hotel General Manager Michael Damion.

The hotel features 221 guest rooms and nine suites, 6,000 feet of meeting space and a fitness center.

There is also a restaurant and bar called Range that serves local cuisine.
