Remainder Of Mount Evans Highway Now Closed For Season
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The remaining portion of the Mount Evans Highway is now closed for the season for construction.
The Colorado Department of Transportation had already closed the 5-mile segment from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans the day after Labor Day per their agreement with the U.S. Forest Service. The top of Mount Evans is 14,264 feet.
The remaining 10 miles of the Mount Evans Highway from Echo Lake to Summit Lake has remained open for a few weeks but is now closed for construction of a retaining wall along the edge of the highway. The wall is intended to improve stability near Lincoln Lake.
