"ReHire Colorado" started this past January. The program focuses on training and coaching low-income veterans and people over 50 to find the right job.

Nearly 500 people have already enrolled. Democratic Rep. Crisanta Duran co-sponsored the bill.

"This legislation is really about making sure that we give tools to the unemployed in Colorado," said Duran, Chair of the Joint Budget Committee. "Those individuals who are still struggling to find work after months and months of being unemployed."

Legislators provided almost $4 million to the ReHire Colorado program. An additional bill is making its way through Legislature to provide additional funding for three years.
