Red Cross Honors Life Savers

DENVER (CBS4)- The American Red Cross took some time out from responding to disasters to honor those who have saved lives.

The annual Heroes Banquet was Friday evening. Some of the heroes honored include a woman who helped evacuate people from a fire, a doctor who left his medical practice to serve in Iraq and a group of people who performed CPR to save a stranger who had a heart attack.

"They embdoy the spirit of the American Red Cross, the people who we are honoring are ordinary people who do extraordinary things," said Red Cross CEO Gail McGovern.

CBS4's Britt Moreno and Reggie Rivers emceed the event.
