Flames, Black Smoke Billow From Burning Recycling Plant

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Black smoke and flames could be seen across the Denver metro area from a fire burning at a recycling plant in Adams County on Thursday afternoon.

The Waste Management recycling center is located at 6091 Brighton Boulevard in Commerce City. The fire started just after 4 p.m.

Firefighters from South Adams Fire responded with assistance from Adams County Fire Rescue responded to the fire that was burning in a pile of recycling.

Copter4 flew over the fire that seemed to be burning close to one of the buildings when the flames spread to the structure.

The plant was still smoldering late Thursday and could continue to burn into Friday morning.

There were several fire engines battling the blaze at the property. Those crews stayed on scene as the fire burned.

It is unclear what started the fire. There were no injuries. Waste Management told CBS4 that all of their employees have been accounted for.
