Recount Confirms Castle Rock's Open Carry Election

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) - A recount has confirmed that Castle Rock voters successfully overturned a ban on the open carry of firearms on city property.

Last month, voters narrowly approved a measure that repealed restrictions set by the town manager on the open carry of firearms on municipal property such as parks.

The measure passed by a vote of 4,737 to 4,586. Recount results released Thursday show the measure actually passed by a vote of 4,749 to 4,595.

The discrepancy happened because of "over-votes," meaning some voters marked both yes and no on a question.
