U.S. regulators say the batteries can explode or catch fire.

Samsung disclosed the issue earlier this month. The company said 2.5 million of the phones have been sold and the problem has occurred a "few dozen" times, according to the Associated Press.

CBSSacramento.com reported that the Federal Aviation Administration also cautioned users not to use the device on airplanes.

Consumers with the smartphones are being told to call Samsung toll-free at 844-365-6197 or go to www.samsung.com.
