Rapids, Zat Knight Mutually Part Ways

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado Rapids and Zat Knight have mutually parted ways.

The 6-foot-6 former England international central defender signed with the Rapids on Oct. 1, 2014, recording four shots while scoring zero goals in his four appearances for Colorado, all of which were losses.

Paul Bravo, the Rapids' technical director said in a statement the Rapids "have decided to remodel our defense this season and, to achieve that, have signed important players across the backline and in goal. In the circumstances, both sides decided to part ways. But we would like to wish Zat all the best for the future."

Knight, 34, played seven seasons with Fulham, two with Aston Villa and five with Bolton Wanderers. He made two appearances for the England national team in 2005.
