Rapids Tie NYC FC 0-0 In Home Opener

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Josh Saunders had seven saves in his second consecutive shutout and 10-man New York City FC tied Colorado 0-0 on Saturday in the home opener for the Rapids.

Saunders guarded the near post in the 8th minute to knock away a Gabriel Torres attempt from the corner of the 6-yard box. Saunders held his ground in the 63rd minute and punched another Torres shot over the crossbar.

Shay Facey received yellow cards in the 51st and 82nd minutes for NYC FC (1-0-2) — the second for colliding with Colorado's Juan Ramirez just outside the penalty area.

NYC FC's best scoring chance came in the 53rd minute, but Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin pushed away David Villa's shot.

Colorado (0-0-2) has not won a match since its 3-0 victory over Chivas USA on July 25, 2014.
