Pueblo Recall Leader Running For Elections Clerk

DENVER (AP) — One of the people behind a successful effort to recall a state lawmaker over new gun restrictions says he's running for Pueblo clerk and recorder.

Victor Head announced his candidacy Tuesday. He's the president of Pueblo Freedom and Rights, which led the effort to force the recall election of Pueblo Democratic Sen. Angela Giron.

Clerk and recorder offices across the state oversee elections.

Head says he wants to improve training for election judges and increase citizen oversight over elections.

In addition to Giron, voters in El Paso County also voted to recall former Democratic Senate President John Morse.

Last year, Democrats passed universal background checks and restricted the size of ammunition magazines to 15 rounds.
