Group Protests 'A Line' At Train-To-Plane Opening Ceremony

DENVER (CBS4) - A group of protesters interrupted the grand opening ceremony of the A Line train at Denver International Airport on Friday morning.

The group or a dozen or more people held up small signs saying "Can't Afford To Ride," apparently in protest of the $9 cost to ride the new commuter train line that runs from Denver International Airport to Union Station.

RTD General Manager Dave Genova was in the middle of his speech -- one of many being given during the ceremony -- when the group emerged chanting "We need a way to get here to there" among other things.

One of the women in the group was walking with her children. Another had a baby on her front in a pouch.

Authorities quickly nudged the group away from the audience area and they walked off together in a line without any incidents.
