Pregnant Woman Struck By Car Loses Baby

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The pregnant woman who was walking on a sidewalk in Thornton when a car struck her has lost her baby.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of 138th and Holly Street on Feb. 18. One of the cars went onto the sidewalk, striking Leah Montgomery, her 1½ year old son who was being pushed in a stroller, and the boy's grandmother.

Both the boy and grandmother suffered minor injuries. Montgomery was critically injured.

According to the accident report, both drivers are juveniles and that the car that hit the woman "swerved to avoid the car crossing Holly."

Detectives with Thornton Police will reconstruct the scene to find out how fast the two cars were driving and who is at fault. Police have said they will not release the names of the drivers unless one or both of them are charged.
