Powderhorn Moves Closing Festivities Up Due To Warm Weather

MESA, Colo. (AP) — Powderhorn Mountain Resort in western Colorado is holding all of its closing weekend festivities a week earlier than planned because of unseasonably warm weather.

The Powderhorn Strider Snow Cup and Powderhorn Pond Skim events will be held Saturday, and general manager Sam Williams said Thursday it's unclear if the ski resort will remain open much past that.

Williams says "we are going to do everything in our power to make it, but Mother Nature is certainly not cooperating."

Beginning Monday, the resort will operate on a day-to-day basis.

Powderhorn is about 20 miles east of Grand Junction.
