Pot Shop Removes Edibles From Shelves After Deadly Shooting

DENVER (CBS4)- A retail marijuana store has removed their edibles from shelves after those products have been linked to a murder investigation.

On Monday, a Denver man allegedly shot and killed his wife while he was on the phone with 911 dispatchers.

Richard Kirk has been arrested in the shooting death of his wife, Kristine Kirk.

Police believe he had eaten edible marijuana products and may have been under the influence of prescription drugs at the time of the shooting.

Investigators believe Kirk purchased marijuana-infused candy from "The Health Center" before the shooting. Police said they found receipts from the store for a marijuana joint and marijuana-infused candy.

Officers stress the store did nothing wrong.

A CBS4 employee recorded a conversation with a store clerk about why the edibles had been pulled from the shelves.

Employee: "For your protection and our protection we've just in the last five seconds decided to pull all the edibles."

CBS4: "You've pulled all your edibles? Okay."

Employee: "Sorry."

CBS4: "Why?"

Employee: "...people are indulging too much and causing issues for everybody."
