Popular Glenwood Canyon Bike Path Closing For Winter
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Transportation officials are set to close a popular bike path through Glenwood Canyon in western Colorado for the winter.
Carry Griffin, a maintenance patrol supervisor for the Colorado Department of Transportation, says snow this week is not melting in shady areas, and crews need to get the path closed before the next storm hits. The gates will be closed Saturday morning.
CDOT closes the path each winter when maintenance activities on Interstate 70 above can create unsafe conditions. It is typically reopened in April, weather permitting.
