Poll: Beauprez Leads Hickenlooper By 4 Points

DENVER (CBS4) - A new Quinnipiac poll out Wednesday morning shows Republican Bob Beauprez leading in the race for Colorado governor.

The independent survey from Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University shows Colorado voters favor Beauprez over incumbent Democrat John Hickenlooper 46 percent to 42 percent.

That is a change from last month's poll by Quinnipiac when Beauprez led by 10 points.

Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll, said in a prepared statement that there has been a shift by some likely voters since the last poll.

"After seeming to waver in our last survey, women and independent voters pull Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper back from the abyss and reinvigorate a race that's very close," said Malloy.

Election Day is in three weeks.
