Police Tell Students: Not 'Fast & Furious,' But 'Slow & Serious'
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police brought a message of safe driving to the students of Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora on Tuesday.
instead of "fast and furious," the students were told to drive "slow and serious."
Officers say so far this year there have already been 15 vehicle-related traffic deaths in Aurora.
They also brought a smashed vehicle to show students of the dangers of distracted and drunk driving.
"Sometimes driving I feel a little invincible being inside a car, but seeing that lets you know that it can happen any time; that you have to be aware so you don't end up crushed in a car like that," junior Alex Valenti said.
April is Distracted Driving Month.

In the last week Aurora police issued 284 tickets.

The National Safety Council (NSC) recommends drivers taking action to combat distracted driving:
• Stop using cell phones while driving
• Recognize that hands-free devices offer little safety benefit
• Understand the dangers of the cognitive distraction to the brain
• Tell others about the dangers of distracted driving
