Police: Sledgehammer-Wielding Thieves Snatch Jewelry
LONE TREE, Colo. (AP) - Police were searching for three men who witnesses say uses sledgehammers to smash display cases and steal Rolex watches from a mall jewelry store.
Lone Tree police in a statement said the suspects entered the Ben Bridge Jewelers store around 8:45 p.m. Friday. The store is located in the Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree south of Denver.
Police said the three left the mall through a sporting goods store and then left the area in an SUV that was reported stolen minutes after the incident.
Police said the SUV, a silver Jeep Liberty, had a Colorado license plate 793OUD. They had not been apprehended as of Saturday morning.
