Police Shoot Burglary Suspect In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a man was shot Wednesday night after firing at police responding to report of a burglary.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jackie Kirby says in a news release that Colorado Springs police responded to a burglary call on the 2400 block of Sierra Springs Drive at 8:48 p.m. when a man fired at officers.

Officers returned fire. But the man drove off and crashed his car about 3 miles away. Kirby says that after the crash, more shots were fired, and the suspect was hit.

Kirby says the two officers involved in the shooting were not injured. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
