BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Police are investigating a bizarre case of a 50-year-old woman found screaming with head wounds in a Brighton parking lot.

It happened late Monday night at an apartment complex on the 4200 block of East Bromley Lane. Authorities were called to the Sterling Park Apartments after receiving reports from neighbors of a woman lying between two vehicles, screaming in pain.

Detectives found the woman with severe head wounds, but are not sure what lead to her injuries.

The woman, a resident of the apartments whose identity has not been released, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Blood could still be seen in the parking lot on Tuesday at midday where the woman was found.

Brighton police are asking for the public's help in the case. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Detective Rudy Underwood at (720) 685-7336.
