Police said two men and one woman were inside the vehicle that officers believed was involved in a carjacking in Arapahoe County. When officers approached the suspects, they took off running and police followed.

"At some point there was a party that produced a handgun and the officer discharged his weapon," said Denver Police spokesman John White.

The suspects were taken into custody in connection with the shooting. One of the males was transported to the hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Police could not confirm whether the suspects fired any shots at police.

No police officers were injured.
