Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

By Stan Bush

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are investigating an officer-involved shooting on North Ivy Street just after 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The officer was a member of an auto theft task force in the metro area, not a Denver Police officer.

A Denver police spokesperson said the shooting happened just north of Interstate 70 after the officer was chasing a stolen vehicle into Denver city limits. The officer performed a pit maneuver, crashing the vehicle before shots were fired.

Police tweeted out an update about the injured suspect.

The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. It's unclear if the officer was ever fired upon.

No names are being released at this time and police are still working to determine how many people were involved in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
