'He's Dead, He's Dead' Says Witness To Five Points Shooting

DENVER (CBS4) - A man is dead after an early morning shooting in Five Points and now police are searching for a possible motive to find a suspect.

"I saw one guy was crying saying, 'He's dead, he's dead,'" said witness Vincent Mineault. "I went to my balcony after I heard the second shots and I saw the guy laying on the ground."

Neighbors called police around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday to report hearing multiple shots. When officers arrived they found an adult male beside a street light at 22nd and Stout streets suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Police on Wednesday afternoon said they still don't have a suspect description. A spokesman says detectives are getting conflicting information about a suspect so at this point no one has been identified.

The victim's name has not been released.

Detectives and investigators spent hours on the scene photographing evidence and speaking to neighbors who could be potential witnesses, but because it's still so early in the investigation a motive is still unknown.

Ultimately the name of the victim and the way he died will be released by the coroner's office.
