Police ID Bicyclist Hit, Killed By Pickup In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a bicyclist who was hit and killed by a pickup truck as he was crossing a busy street in Lakewood.

Police say 53-year-old Daniel Houtz was riding across Wadsworth Boulevard near Sixth Avenue when he was hit just before 8 p.m. Thursday. The driver, who did not appear to be at fault, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Houtz, who was crossing the street mid-block, died at the scene.

Detectives do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, and they are awaiting the results of toxicology tests for Houtz.

Prosecutors are not expected to file charges against the driver.
