Police Find Man Shot To Death In Lakewood Extended-Stay Motel

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Lakewood police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday evening at an extended-stay motel.

The shooting happened at approximately 7 p.m. at the Crossland Economy Studios on Kipling near 6th.

Police said a man's body was found on the floor in a room on the third floor.

Neighbors say the man lived in the room. They also said there had been a lot of people coming into and going out of the room recently.

So far police haven't released the name of the victim or provided a suspect description.

"Typically in this kind of investigation we'll move forward with getting a search warrant and then we'll come out and handle it like any crime with crime scene investigators and we'll begin trying to put the pieces together," Sgt. T.J. Jacobson

Other residents in the motel were asked to evacuate for a short time in the evening.

Sammy Huizar told CBS4 he moved in to the motel on Friday night.

"It's just pretty crazy to think I stayed here and that's what happened across the hallway," he said.
