Police Confirm Cop Shot Deputy During Arrest Attempt
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police confirmed on Monday that an Adams County sheriff's deputy who was wounded during an arrest attempt was shot by a Thornton police officer.
The deputy was shot on Dec. 12 near 40th Avenue and Clay Street in northwest Denver while trying to apprehend Furmen Lee Leyba, 31, who is suspected in a triple homicide in Adams County two days earlier.
The deputy was treated at a local hospital and released that night.
Police scanner traffic from Dec. 12 shows initial confusion about who fired the shot.
Leyba was arrested during the incident.
