Police: Citizens Detain Teen Hit & Run Suspect Who Had A Gun

DENVER (CBS4) - Police in Denver are crediting citizens for assisting them in apprehending a teen with a gun accused in multiple hit-and-runs.

According to police, late Saturday night officers responded to a report of a person with a gun near East 17th Avenue and North Marion Street.

"When officers arrived on scene the party was being restrained by citizens. The suspect, a 17 year-old male, was identified as the suspect running from multiple hit and run accidents," police said in a statement.

Police said the teen also had pointed a gun at a witness while he was fleeing the vehicle, which was reported stolen.

The teen was arrested and faces charges for auto theft, felony menacing and hit-and-run accident.
