Mother Arrested In Amber Alert Allegedly Kicked Officer

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- A mother arrested after she allegedly took her daughter from school in Colorado Springs which prompted an Amber Alert is facing more charges.

Wendy Arellano now faces a charge of assaulting a police officer in addition to kidnapping.

Police received a tip that Arellano was in an apartment with her daughter in Aurora on Wednesday evening.

Authorities said she kicked an officer in the chest during the arrest.

Arellano does not have custody of her daughter. The little girl has been reunited with her foster family.

Police are still searching for an alleged accomplice to the kidnapping. He's been identified as Heriberto Gonzalez Hernandez, 32, who is described as being a Hispanic man, 5-foot-5, 150 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes. He could be driving a gray 2013 Dodge Avenger with Colorado license plate DQH-431.

Anyone who spots Gonzalez Hernandez should call police.
