Police Arrest Man Named James Holmes For Alleged Attempted Rape On Auraria Campus

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver say they have arrested a man they believe is responsible for a violent attack on the Auraria Campus.

According to police, James Holmes, 54, was arrested for attempted sexual assault. He's being held for investigation of first-degree assault and sexual assault.

The attack happened at midday on May 9 on the second floor of a classroom building.

The victim was able to fight herself free and run away, but there were no witnesses and no cameras in the hallway and police had to ask the public for help finding the suspect.

Police said they could not release more details on the incident, in order to avoid targeting the victim.
