Police Arrest Driver In Fatal Hit & Run

DENVER (CBS4) – Police have arrested the driver in a hit and run that killed one person on Saturday.

At around 11:10 p.m. Denver police responded to a fatal auto vs. pedestrian hit and run collision in the 3000 block of South Federal Boulevard.

Police say that a pedestrian was crossing Federal Boulevard when they were hit by a vehicle traveling south.

The pedestrian was thrown into the northbound lanes and was struck by a second vehicle.

The victim was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

That second vehicle fled the scene and was later located near Iliff Avenue and Irving Street.

Authorities identified the driver of that suspected hit and run vehicle as 19-year-old Eliu Jiminez.

Jiminez is being held for investigation of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and DUI.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.

The driver of the first vehicle was not arrested but charges may be pending.
