Man Dies After Slipping Into Platte River Overnight

DENVER (CBS4) - A man died after slipping into the South Platte River overnight.

The man's friend went in after him, and had to be rescued by Denver firefighters.

They took him to the hospital after finding him down river, crying for help in a secured and fenced area near 31st Street and Arkins Court.

The Denver Fire Department started searching for the men around 11:30 p.m. Monday, scouring Confluence Park from 15th Street and Little Raven Street all the way down to the RiNo neighborhood.

It is unknown why the men were in the river to start.
