Planned Parenthood Shooting Suspect In Custody

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - The suspect involved in a shooting at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs on Friday has been taken into custody.

The individual was taken into custody at 4:52 p.m. Friday, after more than five hours of uncertainty.

It began at 11:38 a.m. Friday, when an active shooter entered a Planned Parenthood on Centennial Boulevard just north of Fillmore Street.

People in the shopping center where the facility was located were told to shelter in place while police searched for the suspect.

The scene was declared safe just after 5 p.m. and the mayor of Colorado Springs announced there was no longer a threat to the public. There remains a large crime scene and officers worked to clear the building.

It is unknown if there are any fatalities. Eleven people were injured, five of which were law enforcement.

There is still no indication of what may have motivated the shooter.
