Judge: Planned Parenthood Shooter Still Incompetent

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado judge says a man who acknowledges killing three people at a Planned Parenthood clinic remains mentally incompetent.

Friday's hearing was the latest routine review of Robert Dear's mental health status. He was first judged to be legally incompetent in May 2016 and has been held at the state mental health hospital in Pueblo since then.

The hospital received permission this year to forcefully medicate Dear. Due to medical privacy rules, state officials have refused to say whether Dear is being medicated.

Dear is charged with 179 counts, including murder and attempted murder, stemming from the Nov. 27, 2015 shooting at the Colorado Springs clinic that also injured nine people.

Dear was not in court for Friday's hearing. The next review is set for January.
