Small Plane Crashes In Southwest Colorado
MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) — Authorities are looking for survivors after a small plane crashed into a reservoir in southwestern Colorado.
Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, says the single-engine Socata TBM700 was headed from Bartlesville, Okla., to Montrose when it crashed into a reservoir south of Montrose just before 2 p.m. Saturday. A sheriff's deputy reported finding debris but no sign of the plane's occupants.
A search and rescue team is on its way to the site, and the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
Gregor says he did not yet know the cause of the crash or how many people were aboard the aircraft, which is registered to an Alabama corporation.
Montrose is about 180 miles southwest of Denver.
