3 Dead In Southwest Colorado Plane Crash

CREEDE, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board were heading to the site of a deadly plane crash south of Creede on Thursday.

Three people died in the Wednesday afternoon crash in southwestern Colorado:

- Jere Ferrill, 51, of Castle Rock

- Mykhayl Sutton, of Longmont

- David Louwers, 17, of Longmont

The small plane belongs to Rocky Mountain Aerial Surveys out of Longmont and the crash site wasn't far from a small airport in Creede.

So far it's not clear what caused the crash.

The Associated Press reported a witness told authorities the Cessna 320 sounded like it was having engine trouble and appeared to be trying to land at the airport.
